Goodbye, for now..

This might be my last post for a while. Well, a bluesy mood warrants a bluesy post, and who else understand the blues more than one of its undead king-Mr Skip James.

Rockin Blues'd- Greatest Song Ever Written(For me At Least)

After about 5 minutes of arguing and discussing, my brain and i had come to this conclusion. There is no real contender for this song actually, i had fell in love with it within its first verse. The imagery in it, the emotions, the little stories, the subtle humors, the pure musics-god i cant hide how much i envy this guy. It seems that he is blessed with a muse made out of pure gold, that shone angelic light to whatever he think and see. And my muse is the ghost of an old witch that swears a lot and fart all the time.

Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet?
We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it
And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin' you to defy it
Lights flicker from the opposite loft
In this room the heat pipes just cough
The country music station plays soft
But there's nothing, really nothing to turn off
Just Louise and her lover so entwined
And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind

In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's bluff with the key chain
And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the "D" train
We can hear the night watchman click his flashlight
Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane
Louise, she's all right, she's just near
She's delicate and seems like the mirror
But she just makes it all too concise and too clear
That Johanna's not here
The ghost of 'lectricity howls in the bones of her face
Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place

Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously
He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously
And when bringing her name up
He speaks of a farewell kiss to me
He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all
Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall
How can I explain?
Oh, it's so hard to get on
And these visions of Johanna, they kept me up past the dawn

Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles
See the primitive wallflower freeze
When the jelly-faced women all sneeze
Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze
I can't find my knees"
Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule
But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel

The peddler now speaks to the countess who's pretending to care for him
Sayin', "Name me someone that's not a parasite and I'll go out and say a prayer for him"
But like Louise always says
"Ya can't look at much, can ya man?"
As she, herself, prepares for him
And Madonna, she still has not showed
We see this empty cage now corrode
Where her cape of the stage once had flowed
The fiddler, he now steps to the road
He writes ev'rything's been returned which was owed
On the back of the fish truck that loads
While my conscience explodes
The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain
And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain

The body of his bass is all scratched up from the pick. If i'm not mistaken his P-bass also got a little hole around that part.

Well, this sucks...

Folks, i got me some bad news i need to announce, or good news, depending on how you see it. It seem that one of the local university thought that it is a wise decision to accept my application(for the diploma of medical imaging, if you want all the boring details). So i need to haul my ass over there this 21st May, and as you may guess, the blog will be having a little downtime around that unholy date. There is also a slight possibility-god forbid- that the blog may be put on a short hiatus if i cant find any good internet connection over there, or too busy adapting to new schedule etc. At present i'm also busy sorting and preparing shits and stuffs..

RIP Lee Brilleaux

Lee died on 7 April 1994, from a cancer.

Lee Brilleaux-An Officer and a Gentleman(Will Birch)

Finally finished watching Oil City Confidential last night. That movie really managed to shatter my confidence in my english, at least 'English' english. I could understand Shirley Brilleaux, Lee's wife,  just fine(she being an American), but when the other cast start talking I was sometimes fairly lost. Just cant managed to grab the englishman pronunciation and slang when they're talking fast. Maybe need a couple more viewing to fully understand it. I need an english sub for this, badly.

The movie is really entertaining, though the last 20 minutes or so can be quite sad i think. There is this one shot of Lee's famous white suit(though not quite white) on a hanger in an ads in NME that i personally think is quite moving. And this short scene with Lady Diana in it, although i'm not quite sure what the guy was talking in the background but i'm assuming the princess had watched Dr Feelgood a couple of time.

There are also some rocking clips of live show in it, namely when they told the story of how Wilko pose his guitar like a machine gun in the song 'Riot In Cell Block No 9'. I did a research and found that it is from the 1975 Going Back Home DVD, live in Southend Kursaal. So here is the link, i'm thinking it would be the perfect complement for the already rocking documentary.

"Caco is a proud, handsome man, head of a family, and very powerful in the local community. Yet he has been torn to pieces by the death of his beloved daughter. He constantly visits her grave, weeps silently at her photo and has transferred all his wildly protective love and attention onto his physically challenged nephew, Diego. It seems that Diego's father, Caco's brother, is in hiding after having killed a man from the Caravaca family, who are equally powerful in the community. They are looking for vengeance and have come to Caco for justice. When he refuses to betray his brother, the Caravacas grow impatient. When they realize they are getting nowhere, they threaten to kill Diego. Despite his fierce pride, Caco eventually realizes that the cycle of killing and revenge must be broken. But how can he achieve this and protect everyone he loves?"-IMDB

The girls chorus gave me goosebumps, man

I got a soft spot for flamenco. It can sometime be so happy, sometimes sad, sometimes moody and sometimes fiery. But it will always be so fucking beautiful. Myself, i prefer a 30 seconds Flamenco phrasing of a noobish student than 30 minutes shredding of the so called master shredder. If i ever learn a guitar i'm gonna learn only flamenco, tango and blues,  and try somehow to fuse those shits together, and see how the resulting mutated offspring will be. I think it will be beautiful.

New Notebook

Some posts back there i wrote about how my old laptop fucked me up(May that ingrateful piece of machinery rot in its watery grave, amen.). Then a couple week later i get me a new notebook, a neat little black beauty called Asus-A42F series.

I got it for RM1550, though the greedy sumbitch first put a sticker of RM1899 on it. He then proceed to tell me i can have it for RM1700, and when i made a disinterested face he asked me what my budget is. I said 1.5k, tops, because i'm not looking for a powerful gaming laptop or something. In fact, i explicitly want a notebook because of its lower specs, so that i cant be suckered back into my old video games addiction. And then the fatfuck said okay, Rm 1550, he said( he really need to one-up my price, even by a damn 50 ringgit). I said fine, paid him in cash, stop by the KFC on the way back for a dinner plate, and then secretly stop by the local pirate cd shop- and proceed to buy Darksiders and Kane and Lynch 2 game cds.

It is more of a hope against hope actually. I need to know, for real, if the notebook cant play the new generation games. My old one cant even open Warhammer 40k:Dawn of war 2. I mean, this new one dont even have a graphic card, just a measly Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD  in it. Well i be damned, it works!..though not on the max setting, just barely above minimum specs needed. So i hope that would explained the lack of posts on the last few months, i was too busy abusing my new toy, racking up headshots and ramping up my electric bill yo!

List of games i played(in no chronological order)

1.Darksiders- about 90% in it and then quit, became too repetitive

2.Kane and Lynch 2:Dog Days- finished, sweet story, decent gameplay, wtf ending-no replay value

3.King's Bounty The Legend- 5%(?) in it and left, not my taste

4.Warhammer 40k-Dawn of War 2/Chaos Rising- 3rd playthrough, busted my friend's desktop once playing this

5.Warhammer 40k-Dawn of War 2:Retribution- Cool new gameplay, lack wargears, main story for all race is fucking same, Ork race is fucking kewl though

6.Fallout 3(GOTY)- finished aside a couple DLCs, awesome story/gameplay, wtf-anticlimacs ending

7.Overlord 2- 10%(?) and then forgot about it.

8.Dragon Age 2- 3rd playthrough, awesome story/gameplay, recycled maps, feel kinda short, tried nude mods(..meh)

9.Devil May Cry 4- 2 last chapter left, not in fucking mood to continue

10.Men of War:Assault Squad- The most fucking challenging RTS ever played, I had my ass kicked 3 times on 1st mission, on normal fucking level. Enjoyed it though, and super recommended. Still playing(Mission 2).

11.Borderlands(GOTY)- awesome stuff, 2nd playthrough, still playing.

Games cant play:Assassin Creed 2, The Witcher
Waiting for unreleased titles; the rumored 3rd person Warhammer:'UltraMarine', and Fable 2..and Dungeon Siege 3.
That being said, curse you Asus for making some good quality notebook for cheap ass price. Now, whos gonna pay all that bills?

My mom.

And boy is she pissed.

Oil City Confidential

"The story of Dr Feelgood, four men in cheap suits who crashed out of Canvey Island in the early '70s, sandpapered the face of rock'n'roll, leaving all that came before a burnt-out ruin - four estuarine John-the-Baptists to Johnny Rotten's anti-Christ. Taking London by storm, they sped through Europe and conquered the UK with No 1 chart success, before imploding just as punk was born and America beckoned with open arms. Contributions from members of The Clash, Blondie and The Sex Pistols join Dr Feelgood with collaborators Jools Holland and Alison Moyet to tell the story of Canvey, '70s England and the greatest local band in the world."-IMDB

Never heard of Dr Feelgood? Shame on you, mate. Why, this is the band that had a hit-n-run with Mother Nature, and she bore him Punk Rock. This is the third entry of director Julian Temple's Brit-band documentary, a prequel, of his 2000's The Filth and Fury(Sex Pistols) and 2007's Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten. Come, i even throw in the OST for this.

LAZYgunsBRISKY

There will be no shortage of Japanese bands with wtfisthisidonteven..-inducing name, believe me. It kinda fit their style actually, if you think about it. They took their influences from the very best sources the West can offer, dismember it without mercy, then mix this one's torso with that limbs and stuff. So it is no surprise if a band start to call themselves Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, or  54 Nude Honeys, or The Rodeo Carburettor, or like star of this post LAZYgunsBRISKY.

They are a 4-pieces, all girl Tokyo band that played some sorta punky, fun garage rock. I found them when i read that Benzie produced their second mini album 26times. For better info of them you can check out this interview.

They got some legit, official PV, but i kinda like this song better

This is a public service announcement...WITH GUITAR!!

Alright, here's a question; who said that?

This post is, in fact, an announcement of some kind. After this, i'm gonna write at least 3 posts a week. There, i said it.

Before, i just write according to my whim and moods. No, fuck that; my whole life had been according to my whim and moods. If i dont feel like talking, i can go on for a week with only super-basic human interaction. If i dont feel like it, i dont go to my lectures. My self-discipline bow down only to my procrastination. And my procrastination is a monster in its own league.
For instance, lets look at my post count. We are half way down the year 2011, and i just post 10 stuff. For 2010, its 38 posts and 2009, 29. And that can be honestly translated to how scary my procrastination is in real life.

So this is actually my little attempt at disciplining my self-discipline, and taming my procrastination. Having published this, i cant back down,  can i? And posting here can also help me brush up what little english i have. So you can expect music, more music, a couple of rants here and there, some stuff i find interesting, and then even moar fucking music!

The words for the title is actually from The Clash's intro on 'Know Your Right'. I just immediately think of it when i thought for the title. You've got your announcement, now time for your guitar!

ps; this count as post no. one
